FML Bill of Lading
A “bill of lading” is basically a receipt from shipper of goods (you) provided to the carrier (trucking, railroad, ship or air freighter) that is then in turn signed by the receiver upon delivery. It is designed to protect the shipper, carrier and receiver of freight being transported. This document serves several purposes including a guarantee of payment to the shipper, custodial possession by the shipper and proof of receipt. In short, a bill of lading is a good thing, they are rather generic but freight does not move without it. Click here to learn more about the importance of a bill of lading.
